The solar energy storage system mainly consists of the following modules working together:

Photovoltaic cell array

Energy storage device

Battery pack: Core energy storage unit, commonly using lithium-ion batteries (with high energy density and long life) or lead-acid batteries (with low cost). For instance, a home system is typically equipped with a 10kWh lithium battery to meet the electricity demand throughout the day.

Charge and discharge controller: Intelligently regulates the charge and discharge process to prevent overcharging/overdischarging and extend battery life.

 

Power Conversion and Management Module

Inverter: It converts the direct current from the battery into 220V/380V alternating current for use in household appliances or industrial equipment, with a conversion efficiency of over 95%.

Energy Management System (EMS) : Real-time monitoring of power generation, battery status and load demand, and optimization of charging and discharging strategies through algorithms to enhance system efficiency.

 

Power distribution and safety equipment

Including circuit breakers, electricity meters and cables, etc., to ensure the safe distribution of power and achieve two-way interaction with the power grid (such as surplus power fed to the grid).

Electricity bill savings: Self-generation and self-consumption reduce the purchase of electricity from the grid. In areas with peak and off-peak electricity prices, electricity charges can be reduced by 30-60% during the off-peak hours at night and during the peak hours during the day.

Policy incentives: Many countries offer installation subsidies and tax breaks, further shortening the investment payback period to 5 to 8 years.

 

2. Energy security and resilience enhancement

The distributed feature reduces transmission losses and alleviates the pressure on the centralized power grid.

 

4. Grid coordination and Intelligence

Peak shaving and valley filling: Discharging electricity during peak hours to balance the load on the power grid and prevent infrastructure from overloading.

Demand response: Respond to power grid dispatching signals, participate in auxiliary services of the power market, and obtain additional income.
